October Update

Well, a lot has happened since the last post.

MG is doing great!  Her speech teachers and preschool teachers are extremely pleased with her progress.  She has started using multi-word sentences.   My favorite thing she says is "Stop It MaMa".   She doesn't say it being mean.   It is usually when I'm tickling her.

She has quite the since of humor.   She will look at me and grin real big and say "bite you".   That means she is going to "bite me" with her lips on the cheek .... no teeth.   She'll laugh and say "lick you" which means she is going to do just that.   Then she'll say "Kiss you"  which means she is gonna pucker up and plant a kiss.  Then she'll want me to do the same to her.   She'll point to the spot on her face where she wants a kiss or whatever.   It usually ends up in a tickle/laugh fest. 

She loves to be tickled better than any kid I've ever seen.   She'll run over and say "tickle me MaMa" ... and I don't even have to touch her to get a gigglefest going.  

She is wearing glasses now.   We just got them on Thursday, so we've had to think of ways to bribe her to get her to wear them all day.   So far an Orange Push-up seems to do the trick ... or getting to watch Lion King at the end of the day.

She is getting so creative.   Her teddy bear is her best friend.   Build-A-Bear is her favorite shopping spot.   All of the animals have to have clothes ... including underwear !!!  She has 6 now ... a blue bear, a brown bear, a panda, a rabbit, a turtle, and a cheetah.   We've started only buying accessories !  Some nights we sleep in a zoo ... all of the animals in the bed with me and her.

Her occupational therapist has said that they will re-test her in a couple of weeks.   She has met almost all of her OT goals.   She has gone from no coloring at all to coloring in the lines.   She is cutting very well.  She can button a shirt with no problems.   She can open her own packages.   She is making animals and things with playdoh.  She is getting herself dressed now with no problems.

She has developed a memory that forgets nothing !!!   She is ready for Halloween and asks everyday if it is Halloween yet.   I decorated our house for fall, and that has her ready to Trick or Treat.

Life is a little unsettling now for MaMa.   After 22 years with USA Drug,  my company was purchased by Walgreen's.   On Sept 10, they announced they would close our store on Sept 28, 2012.  For 17 days, we worked our tails off !!   I think we filled more prescriptions than ever before in the history of the store.  It was really sad to walk in there on the 28th knowing that no customers would come thru the door.   We had to inventory the pharmacy, then pack up all of the merchandise.   After a very long day, we had the store cleaned out.   I'm the designated key-toter, so now I just run down and let folks in to remove fixtures and such.  I am actually on administrative leave until Nov 10, since Walgreens has to pay us for 60 days from the time they announce our closure.

After Nov 10, I will be terminated as a USA Drug Employee.   While sad, I am excited about new opportunities coming my way !!!!

Let's see ... what else ???   Hannah started college.   Can't believe my other baby is 18 and has moved away from home.   It's only 40 minutes away, but it seems like it is across the country.   She's had some fun adventures, and is doing great !

Caleb and Courtney are engaged now.   Planning a wedding for Oct 2015 ... yes a 3 year engagement ... will see how that goes .. LOL.
