Ok .. it is 11:21 pm. Mari-Grace is resting peacefully .. having sweet dreams. MaMa is wide awake. I can't believe that Mari-Grace has been with me almost 3 months already. It seems like just yesterday we were visiting Dr. Buckmiller for the first time.
Time is flying by ... and here we are just 9 hours away from her palate repair.
I am going to try to keep the blog updated while Mari-Grace is in the Hospital.... this is the easiest way to keep everyone updated (well ... this and Facebook).
Mari-Grace got a good bath tonite ... with her hair washed in the "good stuff" (Noodle and Boo Shampoo). She's got on new jammies, and we have her new slippers ready to wear to the hospital in the morning. Our overnight bags are packed, and all the extra clothes we might possibly need are in a bag in the trunk of the car.
I've got a few toys packed (not many) and sippy cups with spouts prepped for after surgery.
I'll be snapping some pictures of the "after" phase ... I think it's important to document each step for her in the future ... so she'll understand what she was like as a child.
Hmmm... don't know what else to say at this point.
Keep us in your prayers.
Life as she knows it is about to change for the better...it amazes me to think of the opportunities she'll have because she's here with me. In China, she would have spent her life in the Social Welfare Institute ... unrepaired ... and an outcast. It is sad to think that she would have missed out on so much of life just because of how she looked. Here, she'll have the opportunity to be involved in sports, academics, arts, etc ... who knows ... she may become the doctor that finds the cure for cancer ... or identifies the genes that cause cleft palate/lip ... maybe she'll be a surgeon ... or a rock star .... no cancel that ... no rockstar !!
Toodles.
