Talk about Red Thread Connections

Sunday, October 3 .... we made our first car trip. We drove about 130 miles north to Pocahontas for the Luter Family reunion. I started not to go ... wasn't sure how Mari-Grace would do in the carseat that far ... or how she'd do around a bunch of strangers. BUT, she woke up in a great mood... so I said what the heck, let's go.

Mari-Grace got to meet my Great Uncle Paul and Aunt Novella. Uncle Paul is my grandpa's baby brother.... and the only uncle that My mom has that is still living.

She also got to meet mom's cousin, Dick and his wife Jane (Yes ... they really are Dick and Jane).

Mari-Grace did very well with all of the strangers. She laughed and played, and stayed VERY close to Omaw, Poppy, and MaMa.

As things were winding down, we spotted an Asian lady in the midst of the crowd. I thought hmm... who is this person???

She came over and asked if Mari-Grace was Chinese. Then she wanted to know what city she was from. Low and behold, this young woman was married to a distant cousin of mine. She is from Taiyuan, China ... the "capitol" city of the Shanxi province where we finalized Mari-Grace's adoption.

What a connection .... Half way around the world, 2 people from the same province in China meet at a family reunion in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Now ... the amazing thing is ... we live in the same area of town. She goes to the community center that is about 3 blocks from my house on a daily basis.

Talk about a small ... small ... world !!!
