Mari-Grace had her first experience with an American tradition tonite ... Trick or Treat !!!!
Today, was a L O N G day ... Miss Thang decided that she wasn't going to take a nap. I personally think that she is allergic to naps at home. ( She takes naps FINE for my Mom and my Sister ... but the fight is on during naptime at home.)
Mom and I decided to go to Kohl's ... she threw a hissy fit when we put her in the stroller. SO, I ended up carrying her thru the store. When we hit the toy section ... playtime was on !!! She had a great deal of fun running up and down the toy aisle playing with everything in sight. By the time we were done, I was POOPED !!!
We headed home for a quick dinner, and clothes change ... then off to church for Trunk or Treat.
Since it was still in the mid 80's, and since MG-s costume was going to be a bit warm, she rode to church in nothing but her socks, her diaper, and her bib. Little toot went to sleep as we crossed the river (about 5 minutes from home). SO, she slept in the carseat while we decorated the outside of the car. A short nap, is somethimes better than none at all. I woke her up just in time to get her dressed and start passing out candy.
At first, she wasn't too sure about what was going on. All of those kids in costumes ... she held on to me for dear life. But then ... the CANDY took over ... and she realized that if she held out her pumpkin, she got CANDY put inside. And boy .. did she get a stash !!!!
Kelley decorated the car with orange lights. She hung ghosts around it too. Mari-Grace was cute as a bug dressed as PIGLET. Hannah was POOH. Kelley was EEYORE, and I made a feeble attempt at TIGGER. It was a lot of fun. We had about 120 kids come by...members of our church and visitors for the event. It was a safe, fun Halloween event !!!!
Mari-Grace let Hannah carry her around, and show her off. She even let Uncle Greg take her trick or treating to some cars, once she figured out what it was all about. After an hour, she was one tired cookie. We skipped the hot dogs and games, and headed to Omaw's house.
I was standing there talking to Mom ... looked down, and Mari-Grace had her pumpkin in the floor, pulling out candy and unwrapping it. She was shoveling it in !!! .. UH OH .. SUGAR HIGH !!! Yep ... she had one. I put her in the bed at 8:45 ... and laid down with her. She giggled and laughed and jumped and wiggled and giggled and laughed for another hour !!! Finally, she got me by the hand, took me to the rocker, and laid down across my lap. She made the mistake of trying to blink, and couldn't get her eyes to re-open. She was out cold (and hopefully for the night).
I had such fun watching her take everything in. And the most fun part ... we are doing it again on Saturday !!!

The costume is adorable. Maybe you could put her bed outside? (to take care of the allergy thing, that is) Enjoy all that sugar!
ReplyDeleteI think the Trunk or Treat is a really good idea. Glad the 2 of you are enjoying so many things together. Blessings
